Advanced form of Folic Acid

Pregnacare Conception Max includes L-Methylfolate, a more advanced, bioavailable form of folic acid.  The advanced formulation provides 400µg folic acid, the exact level recommended by the Department of Health for all women who are trying to conceive. Supplemental folic acid intake increases maternal folate status*. Low maternal folate status is a risk factor in the development of neural tube defects in the developing foetus. As well as playing a role in the process of cell division, folic acid also contributes to maternal tissue growth during pregnancy.

Omega-3 Essential Fatty Acids

Essential fatty acids play important roles in the body, but the body cannot make them so they must come from the diet. Research increasingly shows the importance of essential fatty acids in the development of babies and infants. Before and during pregnancy it is recommended to limit intake of oily fish due to potentially detrimental levels of mercury and pollutant contamination.
